The samosa has gone through enough experiments by Master chefs and street vendors to give us delightful recipes like keema samosa and paneer samosa. But have you heard of a samosa that is made of makkhan? Yes, you heard it right! A street vendor is making a samosa where the outer covering is made of white butter! Don’t believe us? Take a look:
The unique white colour of the samosa comes from the white butter. Rather than having the typically deep-fried maida covering, the shell of the samosa is completely made of makkhan! In the video, the white butter is kneaded by the street vendor just like the maida dough and rolled into small thin circles like tiny rotis. Then a sweet stuffing of khoya, gulkand and dry fruits is placed in the samosa and sealed close. Unlike the typical samosa, this samosa is not deep-fried as the butter would melt if it comes in contact with hot oil. This makkhan ka samosa is dipped in cold water to make sure it retains shape. This sweet samosa is served cold, not hot.

People on the internet are reluctant to believe that a samosa like this even exists! They can’t help but criticize this frozen dish that is unlike the samosa people know and love.
